Eleven countries agree on a protocol for better management of tuna fisheries by foreign fleets in the Southwestern Indian Ocean, after many years of WWF support regarding improved regional management of marine resources.

Comoros, France, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa and Tanzania have just completed this draft protocol that will be presented for approval in the 8th Session of the United Nations’ Southwest Indian Ocean Fisheries Commission scheduled to take place in Madagascar next March.
