The Africa Adaptation Hub (AAH) aims to accelerate quality/impactful adaptation work and to deliver transformative results for people and nature in Africa. The Hub is playing a central role for WWF Africa on adaptation and its engagement with external stakeholders is currently growing. WWF is currently developing the Hub strategy to meet internal and external priorities and dynamics. In order to (i) increase the profile of the Hub, (ii) to strengthen its visibility within and outside WWF, (iii) to highlight the WWF Africa work around adaptation, (iv) to boost WWF’s thought leadership in Africa on delivering tangible adaptation actions and (v) to support its fundraising efforts, WWF is hiring a consultant to provide short-term communication support for the AAH.
The main objective of the consultancy is to provide short-term support to the development and implementation of the AAH’s communications needs and priorities, targeting internal and external audiences. Specific objectives include:
- Design the AAH key strategies and reports;
- Finalize the Africa Adaptation Hub’s communication strategy and plan in line with the Hub’s strategy and ensure its implementation;
- Manage the Africa Adaptation Hub’s webpage within the ROA website using WWF’s custom CMS;
- Manage the Africa Adaptation Hub’s accounts within the WWF workplace (created), Twitter (created) and LinkedIn (to be created) using the same content. In addition, make use of the other WWF websites and social media platforms to highlight AAH
communication products;
- Redesign and manage the WWF Africa Adaptation database;
- Ensure media coverage of all the events organized and attended by the Africa Adaptation Hub (e.g. workshops, trainings, conferences, etc.) and develop videos where appropriate;
- Support the development of the AAH communication materials (newsletters, policy paper, infographic, blogs, AAH reports and strategy editing and design etc. including redesigning presentation content).
Duration:
The expected start date is 01 November 2024 and final deliverables should be received by 31 July 2025, which span over 9 months. The total working days should not exceed 108 days.
Required Qualifications:
- Individual consultant, team of consultants or consultancy firm
- University degree or higher academic credentials in Communications / Marketing / Media / Journalism/ Digitalization or other relevant field
- At least 7 years relevant professional experience in communications, including within an international NGO.
- Proven skills in website design/management and social media management
- Strong work ethic, organized and deadline-oriented mindset
- Strong records of delivering similar work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
Coordination and supervision :
This work will be realized under the supervision of the WWF Africa Climate Change Adaptation Coordinator who will approve all deliverables and all receipts. The consultantwill also work in coordination with WWF Madagascar communication team where the Hub is hosted. Collaboration with the WWF Africa communication team will also take place to ensure synergies at regional level but also with country team on a need basis. All requested reports/deliverables shall be written in English.

a) A technical proposal:
- Supplier information
- Understanding of the request and describing the proposed approach and methodology to deliver the mandate based on the ToR and expectations
- Response to the technical and functional requirements
- The consultants’ resume (which shall state clearly any experience similar to the object of the present service and indicating key references and the field of specialization)

- Necessary relevant information showing past experience in related field (cases of relevant prior work), with links to examples of these works

b) A financial proposal in Euro.
- The budget should give details of consultancy days as well as daily rates, along with management secretariat costs. Daily rates and expenditures should be shown separately.
- The offer should also show tax-except and taxable costs. Where costs are tax-exempt, explanations should be provided. (Please note that any costs for developing proposals in response to this assignment are not reimbursable)
WWF will directly pay for all expenses related to travels (if there is any), so those expenses should not appear in the consultant offer. The rate of Per diem and Accommodation should not exceed WWF’s rate and the airfare is based on Economic class.
For the case of non-resident consultants in Madagascar, the consultant is subject to the payment of the Tax on Income from Non-Resident (under Article 01.01.14.'s Tax Code CGI) up to 10% (or 5 % if based in Mauritius). A remark on this tax should appear in the financial offer.
