Coalition Namako ny Tany: 3,000 young people working for conservation in northern Madagascar

Young people are stepping up their support for conservation in the Diana Region through the "Namako ny Tany Diana coalition".

Created in 2023 and legally recognized, this coalition brings together 33 associations and over 3,000 young people, according to the latest statistics, covering the entire Diana region.
Many years before joining the coalition, the majority of member associations, such as JCI Ambilobe and Diégo and Read DDS Diégo, were already very involved in sustainable development activities in northern Madagascar. Among other things, they have contributed to the development and promotion of the Ankazomborona (Ambilobe) ecotourism site, and to various awareness-raising campaigns during world days.
This initiative will give these dynamic, motivated and assiduous young people the opportunity to extend the impact of their actions, make their voices heard and demonstrate their commitment to nature. Less than a year after its creation, the Namako ny Tany coalition has benefited from capacity-building in project and organizational management, as well as technical reinforcement in areas such as climate change, biodiversity and green employment. The aim is to provide them with the skills and aptitudes they need to act independently, raise awareness among their peers of sustainable natural resources management, and lead positive change for nature. Eventually, the Namako ny Tany Diana coalition will be able to pilot projects and collaborate with all stakeholders: decentralized territorial authorities, decentralized territorial services, civil society organizations, NGOs, etc.
