Two new renewable natural resource management transfer contracts for community-based organizations in the Vohémar district, SAVA region
Formalized by a contract between the State, the commune and the communities, the Transfer of Renewable Natural Resource Management (TGRNR) contributes to more sustainable management of natural resources, decision-making autonomy and improved living conditions for the communities that depend on them, as well as a reduction in resource-related conflicts.
This TGRNR contract has been renewed for two community-based organizations (CBO) or Vondron'Olona Ifotony (VOI) in the commune of Bobakindro, in the Vohémar district, giving them the power to manage natural resources for the next three years. This renewal was obtained following a conclusive evaluation of the effectiveness, sustainability and impact of their management actions, carried out in the two fokontany concerned: Maromokotra and Bobakindro.
The new contracts were signed and handed over to the two CBOs during a ritual ceremony on December 4 and 6, in the presence of villagers, stakeholders in the Transfer of Renewable Natural Resources Management, representatives of the SAVA region, the SAVA Regional Directorate for the Environment and Sustainable Development (DREDD SAVA), the mayor of the Bobakindro commune, and WWF.
WWF continues to support local communities in the sustainable management of natural resources around the COMATSA protected area, promoting sustainable, nature-friendly livelihoods while preserving biodiversity and improving human well-being.
