Forum of Civil Society Organizations - "Civil Society Organizations engaged in the sustainable management of natural resources to defend common interests and human rights"
However, it is clear that CSOs are facing multiple challenges: low recognition of their role and their place in society, financial viability that limits their actions and threatens the sustainability of their actions, a lack of visibility and a lack of synergy between them and with other actors ...
It is in this context that several CSOs working for the environment and sustainable development are organizing the first forum of Civil Society Organizations on 03, 04, 05 November 2022 at Gare Soarano, Antananarivo with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and WWF.
CSOs represented: ROHY, PFNOSCM, FIVE Menabe, WWF, ADES, AGAMO, ANEDD, VOAHARY, Barefoot College Madagascar, VOI Ampasivelona, VOI Ankazomborona, CLP Nosy Hara, CODE Menabe, Consortium des Jeunes Mahery ,Comité GIZC Menabe / Melaky, EDEMA, FITAME, FIVOI Menabe, JCI Diego, OSCE MANDRESY, Saragna, SAF FJKM, PFED , SIF, READ DSS, MIHAVAO, Vonona Youth Consortium Melaky, IDEE Jeunes, Coalition Nationale de Plaidoyer Environnemental, CNPE, ONJA , TI-MG, GOSOC KOMANGA,OSCIE, MAAHARE, AVG, TMTI, ROSEDA, TAFO MIAHAVO, UVV-Tana, CRADES, ONG Fanoitra, PROSC Melaky-RAFIA, Mahery Menabe Media Association, AKIM, FIHAME, MSIS-Tatao, Reseau MIHARI, FUP BATAN, HINA platform, ORTMEN.
Organized under the theme "Civil Society Organizations engaged in the sustainable management of natural resources to defend common interests and human rights", this meeting aims to increase the visibility of Civil Society Organizations and expand the framework of their partnership with other actors in environmental governance.
The aim is to highlight their place as major pillars of good governance through the defense of rights and common interests, the promotion of communities in the sustainable management of natural resources and advocacy for the establishment of a framework conducive to participatory and effective governance of these resources. The exchanges will highlight the tangible results of civil society but also the lessons learned and the challenges encountered.
Held in hybrid mode, in person at Gare Soarano and live on the facebook page Forum of Civil Society Organizations, the forum offers a series of activities:
- 07 thematic conferences focusing on three central themes:
- The place and role of CSOs in inclusive governance in Madagascar and specifically in environmental matters;
- Advocacy for the legal and institutional recognition of CSOs and protection of activists;
- Challenges and prospects for action, funding and partnership between CSOs and other actors in the framework of governance and natural resource management.
- An exhibition with 50 civil society organizations from different regions of Madagascar
- Animations for the general public and tononkalo competitions
- A meeting space between young people and organizations involved in natural resource management.
Young people play a crucial role in the evolution of our society and particularly in environmental matters. Increasingly sensitive to environmental protection and climate-related issues, youth are the spokespersons for environmental and societal changes. The forum will offer them a space for meeting and exchange, which will highlight their contributions and their commitments for the sustainable management of natural resources in Madagascar, and make their solutions heard for a better future for the country and the planet.
This event is free and open to all.
