Second annual report of the WWF South West Indian Ocean (WWF-SWIO) Regional Programme 2023/24
Welcome to the second annual report of the WWF South West Indian Ocean (WWF-SWIO) Regional Programme, which aims to showcase our activities, progress and impacts for the year ending 31 January 2024.
WWF-SWIO is a regional WWF programme that is hosted by WWF-Madagascar and integrates the work done by WWF in Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, the Comoros, Seychelles and Mauritius in order to facilitate cross-learning and achieve impact at scale.
In addition to these country-level initiatives, WWF-SWIO implements regional-level programmes that focus on the sustainable blue economy, coastal community-led conservation, effective regional fisheries management and integrated ocean governance.
The initiatives showcased in this report are not exhaustive, but rather intend to demonstrate WWF-SWIO’s systemic approach to embedding inclusive conservation and sustainable development in the region.
