WWF Madagascar Country Office is looking for a (01) Integrated Ocean Governance Lead - SWIO Programme – Two-year Fixed term contract
Location: South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya or Madagascar
Major Function:
The main function of the Integrated Ocean Governance Lead is to lead and coordinate the delivery of the WWF SWIO Strategic Goal 4: Large scale threats (extractives, infrastructure) to SWIO region are mitigated through an Integrated Ocean Governance and delivery of the Global Biodiversity Framework.

What you need:
Required Qualifications:
- A higher academic degree (PhD or MSC) in an environment-related field;
- At least 10 years relevant experience in the WIO region;
- At least 5 years experience of large bilateral and multilateral funding agencies;
- Good understanding of institutional and political context
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strategic thinker, with ability to link high-level political strategies to activity implementation on the ground;
- Good inter-personal and diplomatic skills;
- Convener and facilitator, demonstrating “soft” leadership and deal-broker ability;
- Ability to see relevance of and translate science findings into policy recommendations;
- Ability to explain complex concepts, findings and ideas in public and translating for specific audiences (e.g.: from governments to local communities).
